  • BROKEN BIRD will open 2024 FRIGHTFEST and will be coming to UK cinemas 30th August

Released in UK cinemas on August 30th after World Premiere at FrightFest

Monday 15th July, London, UK: Catalyst Studios is excited to announce that their gripping gothic horror BROKEN BIRD, which celebrates its World Premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square, London, and opens this year’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, will be released in UK cinemas from 30th August 2024.

    BROKEN BIRD
marks the feature directorial debut of Joanne Mitchell, who for nearly 15 years has honed her craft as a horror storyteller. BROKEN BIRD is a feature film adaptation of her & Tracey Sheals’s 2018 award-winning short SYBIL, screenplay by Dominic Brunt.

This rich, disturbing tale steps into the life and mind of Sybil Chamberlain. Sybil is a quiet, creative soul. Her hobbies are taxidermy and poetry. She works in a funeral parlor with the deceased. She likes dead people. They understand her.
At just ten years old, she experienced trauma in a tragic accident which took away the family she adored. Now, an aching loneliness prevails in a void which she seeks to fill. But poetry and a vivid imagination provide an escape from the harsh realities of a lonely life.
Reality and reason are slipping away from Sybil and her ‘dark desires’ become more and more insatiable. Her fascination with the dead takes a dark and strange twist. And in a horrific climax of gothic proportions, she finds her own kind of happiness and contentment with the people she keeps as company – dead people.

Sybil is masterfully portrayed by Rebecca Calder (Kandahar/Memory) in a riveting nuanced performance in which she captures all of Sybil’s quirky, unsettling behavior. She is supported by an incredible cast featuring James Fleet (Four Weddings & a Funeral), Sacharissa Claxton (Avenue 5) and Jay Taylor (Misfits).”

  • MEMBERS CLUB gets world wide premier at 2024 FRIGHTFEST!

MEMBERS CLUB will have its World Premiere at FrightFest on 24th August

It’s The Full Monty meets From Dusk Till Dawn

Starring Dean Kilbey, Perry Benson, Barbara Smith, Juliet Cowan, Mark Monero, Steve Oram, David Schaal, Alan Ford, Liam Noble & Peter Andre

“Wet Dreams, a middle-aged male stripper group have hit rock bottom. After a string of disastrous gigs, the gang considers disbanding. Alan, the group’s happy-go-lucky front man, takes over the business and books the boys a lucrative and mysterious gig in rural Essex. But when the group arrive at the desolate club, their night quickly takes a dark turn when they find themselves tangled up in a plot to raise a murderous 16th century witch from the dead.”

Members Club takes you on a journey from the mundane world of middle-aged male strippers to the down right ludicrous world of talking cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, whisky drinking toads, OnlyFans for pensioners and Peter Andre’s most outrageous role yet – leading to a rip roaring finale that has never been captured on film before.

Marc Coleman, Writer/Director, says: “I’m really excited for the world to see Members Club. We’ve been working on this project from script to screen for over 2 years and I can’t wait to show audiences what we’ve been up to. It’s a middle-aged ‘Magic Mike’ meets a British ‘From Dusk Till Dawn”
Raghav ’Gav’ Mukerji, Producer, says: “The world has been calling for a stripper-killing witch film for years and we were brave enough to do it and make it as balls to the walls mental as we could. It’s a testament to our director’s ability that there’s enough substance, heart and craft in the project to have the audience walk away feeling something too.”

Kevin Harvey, of Black Water Pictures, says: “When Gav and Marc approached Black Water with this project, we jumped at the chance to bring to market this highly original and frankly hilarious riot of a horror comedy.”
